Yes, Yes, and Yes! (Continued)
- The heating/cooling system will rely on the Earth’s geothermal energy. Under-floor heating will be used for comfort and heat exchangers for efficient introduction of fresh air. Minimal impact on the environment and surroundings will be our benefit. Building materials will be manufactured locally. Construction waste will be minimal and recycled. Local labour will reduce commuting and enrich the community. Storm water runoff will be distributed into the ground, paved areas will be minimal and native vegetation and plantings will flourish in the gardens, reducing the need for watering.
- Building envelope will be constructed, so that it does not leak energy. It will be strong, as the solid moulded panels are structural, fire danger is reduced, so is the generation of dust and mold. Insect problems will be eliminated. It will be a healthier home than what most of us live in.
- The building forms express beauty in their shapes and forms, surrounded and integrated into a pattern of gardens. The buildings are born out of and belong to the hills of Caledon.
